Denver Broncos: New Uniforms On The Horizon?

Tim Tebow is about to do it again, folks. Be ready.

No, he’s not going to bring Denver from behind again to get an unlikely win. (I mean, he might. This is Tim Tebow we’re talking about. He leads comeback victories like Newt Gingrich makes crazy statements, which is to say “with regularity.”) But he may well lead the league in jerseys sold for the second time when the Broncos change their look in 2012.

What you see above is NOT the Broncos’ new uniform. It is unlikely that the white-horse/orange D will ever return to the Broncos’ logo, as they’re not looking to go back in time.

We’ve all heard about the Broncos’ plan to return to the Return to Orange. This is not news.

What has not been discussed, at least not at length, is the likelihood that the team will change uniform styles completely, doing away with the “suspender” look and going back to a more traditional, hard-nosed football uniform.

Less dash, more smash.

It’s time. It’s been 15 years since the change to the spacesuits the team wore while winning two Super Bowls. With the team returning to a dominant run-game-and-defense model, the time is now to change the uniforms to something a little more old-fashioned. The orange alternates the team has worn for years now are obsolete, and will soon be replaced with a more traditional look. Think of the Buffalo Bills’ new look, only with orange and blue as the primary colors (and no white helmets).

Block numbers. Bold lines around the shoulders rather than up the sides. The colors will remain the same — as will the logo — but the Broncos are going back to the future.

So save your pennies, Bronco fans. That Champ Bailey jersey you’ve been rocking is about get an update.

  1. Couldn’t agree with you more…being a longtime bronco fan i miss the old D logo and orange crush look, though i must say the dark navy blue of the past 15 years is much better than the harmless sky-bluish shade of the old days. I also really like the idea of switching back to block numbers and changing the “suspender” stripes as you had mentioned was going to happen, but considering those same elements are still on the slightly updated orange jerseys they now wear in the 2012 season, I was just wondering where you had heard the rumors about those changes back in January.

  2. How times change so quickly. Elway snags a (so far)healed up Manning, Tebow was sent packing, they are no longer a run based offense, and the orange alternate the writer spoke of as being obsolete has become the home jersey. Sure wish they could’ve kept Tebow in the backup spot where he would’ve only improved working with Peyton. But I also sure wish the old white horse D logo would come back. Looks like neither is gonna happen any time soon.

  3. Hello there, I do believe your blog may be having browser
compatibility problems. When I take a look
at your site in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in
IE, it’s got some overlapping issues. I simply wanted to give you a quick heads up!
    Besides that, great site!
